DALLAS, Pa. ? The CUA offense erupted for five goals on Sunday in a 5-1 win over Misericordia.? The No. 8 Cardinals scored twice in the first half and then broke things open with three more goals after halftime.? With the win CUA moves to 7-3, while Misericordia drops to 2-9.
The Cardinals actually trailed in this one after the Cougars received a goal from Lindsay Hischak 2:15 into the game.? Terra Hall assisted on what was Misericordia's final goal of the day.
CUA's defense tightened up from that point, holding Misericordia to only one shot for the rest of the game, and the offense went to work as well, with Colleen Harwood scoring the first of her two goals at the 16:03 mark to tie things at one.
10 minutes later, Harwood assisted on Hayley Wright's goal to give the Cardinals a lead they would not relinquish.
Just 22 seconds into the second half, Kiera McGovern upped the lead to 3-1 when she scored.? Harwood registered her second assist of the day on the goal.
The Cougars' only shot of the second half came from Hall following a penalty corner, but CUA's Megan Comunale was there for the save to keep the lead at two.
With a little over 10 minutes remaining, CUA was awarded three consecutive penalty corners and the Cardinals were able to take advantage when Harwood netted her second goal to make it 4-1.
Wright assisted on Harwood's goal and Harwood then returned the favor as Wright sealed the win with a score at the 65:37 mark.
CUA finished the day with a 29-2 advantage in shots and a 22-2 lead in penalty corners.?
CUA remains on the road for its next game, making the short trek to Towson, Md. to face Goucher on Wednesday.? Start time is set for 4 p.m.
